The Contact Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge is introducing ‘Wheels of Fortune’ an enticing new loyalty scheme for riders prepared to ‘Face the Challenge’ three years in a row.

Riders will be eligible for ‘Wheels of Fortune’ if they enter the Cycle Challenge in 2011, 2012 and 2013. In 2013 one lucky rider, who has entered all three events, will win a ‘pot of gold’ estimated to be around $25,000, which will be drawn at the Cycle Challenge prize giving.

Acting Event Director Kay Brake says ‘Wheels of Fortune’ is a fun and exciting scheme for riders and will help to acknowledge those loyal to the event that return to Taupo every year to ‘Face the Challenge’.

“We wanted an impressive prize that was going to encourage new riders to come back but also something to reward our loyal riders – it is amazing the number of riders that return year after year to ride around the Lake.”

All 2011 participants (excluding Kids @Heart riders) will automatically be entered into ‘Wheels of Fortune’.

Cyclists can find out more or enter the Contact Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge at www.cyclechallenge.com. In 2011 there will be something for everyone with 12 different events catering for cyclists of all fitness and ability levels. RaboDirect Trainer Wheels is still available for those wanting a training and motivation programme to help them to ‘Face the Challenge’ for 2011.

About the Contact Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge
The 2011 Contact Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge will be the 35th year the event has been held. Cyclists can enter online at www.cyclechallenge.com

The Cycle Challenge is a community event, owned and operated by the Taupo Moana Rotary Club. Over 1,000 local volunteers contribute to the event with the proceeds going back into the Taupo community. Contact Energy is the event’s Principal Partner.

@Heart is the official charity of the Cycle Challenge and will be asking riders to ride for @Heart by creating an online fundraising page at www.everydayhero.co.nz/event/cyclechallenge2011 when they enter the event. This year, all monies raised will go towards helping little hearts have a big adventure – at Camp Brave Hearts – a national camp where heart kids aged 8–12 years can participate in a range of outdoor activities in a fun, safe environment under the supervision of a medical team.
