Kay Brake has taken over the reins as Event Director of the iconic Contact Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge.
Lake Taupo Cycle Trust Director Doug Simmons said “Kay has done a brilliant job in her role of Administration Director over the past four years and has an intimate knowledge of the event. We are more than confident that Kay and the event team will deliver another outstanding Cycle Challenge for 2011.”
The Contact Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge is a community event operated by the Taupo Moana Rotary Club, with proceeds donated back into local community projects. Club President Murray Stanley says “the Club is looking forward to this year’s event with some new initiatives for the 35th year.”
A new loyalty scheme is being introduced called ‘Wheels of Fortune’ for riders that enter the Cycle Challenge in 2011, 2012 and 2013. In 2013 one lucky rider (who has entered all three events) will win a ‘pot of gold’ estimated to be around $25,000, which will be drawn at the 2013 prize giving. Full terms and conditions are available on the website.
The Cycle Challenge, which attracts over 10,000 cyclists from around New Zealand and overseas, is being held on Saturday 26 November. Online entries are available at
www.cyclechallenge.com. The event provides something for everyone with 12 different options catering for cyclists of all fitness and ability levels.

@Heart is the official charity of the Cycle Challenge and will be asking riders to support their fundraising page when they enter the event.
