The popularity of the event has resulted in numbers always exceeding the availability of commercial accommodation in Taupo.

To meet the accommodation needs for the event we have access to a large number of holiday homes and private houses/rooms available to rent for the weekend of the event. Our accommodation service is free of charge. When accommodation is found the arrangements must be made directly between the provider and the recipient.

Interislander Ferry

Interislander travels between the North and South Islands of New Zealand and is one of the most spectacular cruises in the world. With 92 km of breathtaking views, the three-hour journey between Wellington and Picton really is one of New Zealand’s most iconic tourism activities. 

We have up to 11 sailings a day for you and your vehicle, so you’ll always have a wide choice of travel times. Taking a vehicle with Interislander is as easy as parking in a car park building - just drive on and drive off. As well as the travel convenience of taking a vehicle between the two islands, passengers with vehicles do not have any luggage restrictions.
