General Information
The Wattyl Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge began in 1977 and it is now one of New Zealand's most popular sporting events. It is a non-competitive bike ride around New Zealand's largest lake, Lake Taupo, a distance of 160 km. There are seven different Challenges; the Solo riders' 160 km Challenge (which includes Tandem riders), the 160 km Tarmac Relay (2, 3 or 4 riders), the 174 km Dirt & Tarmac Relay (3, 4 or 5 riders) which include an MTB rider in the team, a 320 km twice round the lake Enduro and a 640 km Maxi Enduro. There is also a 160 km Classic Race component for the elite rider. For the younger ones we have the 5 km Heart Ride. There is a carnival atmosphere at the finish.

Drop Bag s
As part of your entry we will have a drop bag system, where you will receive a strong plastic bag in which you can place gear for dropping at the starts or at Relay interchange points. Your bag will make its way back to Taupo for you to collect later.
NOTE: The drop bag system does not have the logistics to move bags from the Start to the Relay Interchange points, or between the Relay Interchange points.
