@Heart is the only organisation in New Zealand dedicated to providing lifelong support to all those affected by a childhood heart condition.
There are kids@Heart, teens@Heart, adults@Heart and families@Heart.
With 12 babies born with a heart condition every week in New Zealand, the @Heart family is growing all the time.
When you’re a child and you have a heart condition, the big adventures in life can seem a bit out of reach.
Each year (funds permitting), @Heart holds Camp Brave Hearts for 8 – 12 year old heart kids from all around New Zealand.
Camp Brave Hearts is a dynamic five day camp held in Taupo that makes the dream of having a big adventure a reality. Having a heart condition is the norm at Camp Brave Hearts, and the kids are able to challenge themselves in outdoor activities such as kayaking, rope climbing and BMX riding in a fun, safe, supportive environment under the careful supervision of a medical team.
With at least 60 kids attending each year, Camp Brave Hearts is a big event, and is always the highlight of the Kids@Heart calendar.
This year, funds raised with the support of the Contact Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge cyclists will go towards Kids@Heart and helping little hearts have a big adventure.
It costs $1,000 for a child with a heart condition to have a big adventure at Camp Brave Hearts, and the entire camp is funded through grants and voluntary donations.
By using this link to set up a fundraising page, and raising funds for @Heart as you pedal round Lake Taupo, you can help a little heart have a big adventure. The process is simple, the fundraising painless, and you’ll be riding with the knowledge that you’ve helped to create memories of a big adventure that will last a lifetime for a little heart.
