April 2026 Update
April was all about preparations for the upcoming World Cups in Hong Kong and Malaysia. We did a team pursuit simulation before we left, which didn’t give me much confidence in our ability as a team, with some riders not feeling super good or still trying to get fitness back after some time off.
In Hong Kong, we had a very average qualifying round but really pulled one out of the bag in the first round and final of the team pursuit to take the win and put down a pretty good time. In the Madison Event in Hong Kong, my teammate Prue started to get sick with a bug, so we struggled to maintain our positioning in the race towards the end, just outside the medals.
Onto Malaysia, we arrived with four riders, as one of our teammates had left to race in Europe. With just four riders, there is no room for anyone not to ride in the Team Pursuit. This was a struggle for us, with Prue still feeling sick. We had to adapt our strategy and went into the race thinking we just wanted to do what we could with the situation we were in. To our surprise, we qualified fastest, won the first round and won the final, coming away with another golf in the Team Pursuit! In the Madison, Prue was starting to feel much better and certainly showed it, getting enough points to put us in 2nd place in the end.
After the racing finished, I was given 10 days off the bike, my last break until after the Commonwealth Games.

Half Marathon
I struggle to sit still for very long, so with 10 days off the bike I decided to run a half marathon off absolutely no training other than two runs the weekend before…
I struggled a lot in the last 5km, but pushed through and got it done in 1hr 15mins!
