The Lake Taupō Cycle Challenge has always been more than a ride - it’s a feeling, a community, a day both locals and visitors alike, come back to year after year.

Family Pass
Take on the Lake Taupō Cycle Challenge with your whole whānau in 2026, and build something together.
Whether you’re riding for your wellbeing, to tick it off the bucket list, or for the joy of a shared family experience, this is a day worth showing up for.
And to help get you moving together we’re introducing, for the very first time, a Family Pass. Adults enter as usual, and if you enter your family at the same time, younger riders under 19 score 20% off, and under 15’s get 30% off!
Terms & Conditions
Min. 1 x fully paying adult
Adult must be the parent or guardian
Maximum 4 children per transaction
On event date (Saturday 28 November 2026), children must be respectively 18 or under to receive 20% discount, or 14 or under to receive 30% discount.
Entries must be made using the same parent’s EventPlus account

This year’s Lake Taupō Cycle Challenge will take place on Saturday 28th November, which gives you (and your riding buddies) plenty of time to get cracking on your training and the right amount of motivation to see you through the winter months. There will be no slacking off when you know this is on the horizon - and you’ve got a group chat to keep you in check.

It’s easy to get your 15% discount - all you have to do is email us at info@cyclechallenge.com before entering - and we’ll send you back a unique code that’s just for you and your mates!
Note: This special discount code is only for those in your actual group. The code cannot be shared on any public platform eg newsletters, social media, websites etc. If we become aware of public use, the code may be revoked.
✅ Win $250 for your group!
Take out one of our Group, School, Corporate, or Cycling Club Challenges and you will win $250 for your group! All you have to do is be the group (Group, School, Corporate, Cycling Club) that rides the greatest total distance - so a big group doing our shorter distances could have as much chance of winning as a smaller group who take on our longer course options. The winning group will receive $250 for their group to spend how they wish be it a group meal out, to put towards your next team trip, or towards a club function.
To be in the running: when making your online entry select that you are part of a Group / School / Corporate / Cycling Club, and include your group name. To be eligible everyone in your group must use the same group name (eg. Ride Holidays, Manukau Cycling Club, St. Kentigern College).
✅ Rotary Challenge
To take out the Rotary Challenge all you have to do is be the Rotary group that rides the greatest total distance - so a big group doing our shorter distances could have as much chance of winning as a smaller group who take on our longer course options. Make sure you select that you are part of a Rotary Group when you make your online entry.
✅ Fundraise For Charity
In the spirit of fundraising, each year we have heaps of riders ask if they can use the event to raise funds for charity. We’re excited to have adopted a multi-charity approach and have teamed up with Grassrootz so you can raise funds for your favourite charity.
We’re also thrilled to have Prostrate Cancer Foundation, Upside Youth Mentoring and I am Hope as hero charities for this year’s event. If you don’t have a charity of choice you can help these wonderful charities by setting up an online fundraising page and making a donation when you do your online entry. There’s nothing quite like reveling in the success of a ride well done with others who have put in the hard yards with you. When you enter online, if your account recognises you as a Cadence member, you’ll be invited to refer a friend. You just need to add their name and email address when prompted, and if they then enter the event, it’ll trigger our system to refund you 25% of your entry fee.
You can refer multiple people but your 25% discount only applies once.
The 25% discount will be refunded based on the entry fee you paid excluding any additional purchases such as merchandise, X-Cover etc.
Can not be used in conjunction with any other discount or incentive.

Taupō locals, we need your help to keep the wheels turning. And to say ‘thanks’ we’ve got a bonus for you ready to be unlocked.
When you enter, invite a mate, colleague or family member - maybe they’ve never done the Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge before - to join you at the 2026 event and, if they enter, we’ll refund you 25% off your entry fee!
