November / December / January Recap
After competing at the Track Cycling World Championships and my last criterium of the year in Chile, I flew back to New Zealand on my birthday and enjoyed a week off training. November was about taking a breather and easing back into training, while still doing some outside activities I enjoy, like running and participating in Saturday morning Park Runs. It has now become my goal to run under 21 minutes for 5km in 2026!
I also participated in the Lake Taupō Cycle Challenge, which is always such a fun ride. Although it wasn’t my fastest time this year, I still finished 5th overall in the women’s category.
In December, I began focusing my training towards the Omnium and Madison National Championships. I placed 2nd in the Omnium and 1st in the Madison with a new partner. I then had an extra-big training week following the racing, riding almost 600km!
I spent Christmas and New Year’s in Hawke’s Bay with my partner Damon, which was a nice change of scenery and gave me some new roads to explore on my bike.
2025 was such a great year, getting to enjoy new experiences like racing in the U.S., where I also made some lifelong friends, and learning so much about myself as a person and as a rider to better myself in the years to come. Thank you so much for your support throughout my journey! I hope 2026 will be even better!
