May Recap
I arrived in America on the 1st of May and have since settled in really well with my host family in a small town called Lambertville. I was given all my team kit which felt like Christmas, and I’ve been getting on super well with my teammates.
I was really nervous for my first race, the Simon’s Heart Conshy Classic, but I completely surprised myself by taking the win! In my second race, I placed second after a tough battle in a breakaway against two riders from the same team.
In the next four races, my role shifted from getting into breakaways to setting up my teammate for the final sprint by initiating the lead-out. That change came down to the nature of the courses and number of riders where breakaways weren’t sticking. My teammate Odette and I have been working really well together, and we’ve managed to land a few podiums through our teamwork.
On my days off, I’ve had the chance to do a bit of sightseeing. I spent a day exploring New York City (which was super entertaining) and even went to my first minor league baseball game!
